Unabashedly Begging for Trader Joe’s

Bring Trader Joe’s to Orlando now has 3,044 likes on its Facebook page (self included). The Orlando Sentinel has written more than 25 stories mentioning Trader Joe’s in the last year alone.

We are not above begging. In fact, I think that’s what you could call it. Those who care have watched ol’ Joe set up shop in Ft. Myers, Sarasota and Gainesville with nothing short of open envy.

And now, the rumor mill that one may be opening in Winter Park (Orlando area) has started up again. Although, this time the TJ police have identified a possible location bringing real hope to gourmands on a budget.

What is it about Trader Joe’s? I must confess to having lived just a few miles from TJ’s in Atlanta and only visiting twice. TWICE. I had no idea the treasure that was just around the corner! Of course, I wasn’t cooking very much then either (read: never.)

But now, I know what a jewel it is. Ty and I seek it out whenever we are near one, loading up on cheap wine, gourmet cheese and delicious pastas and crackers. Clearly, I’m a wine and cheese fan, but that’s for another blog post…

We still have our Trader Joe’s bag given to us for FREE since we didn’t have one at the Charlotte store.

I sincerely hope TJ’s isn’t toying with us. And I don’t want to hear anything about not being able to get down to the peninsula state for “environmental reasons”. Aldi owns Trader Joe’s and there’s a ton of Aldi stores here. And besides, if you can get to Ft. Myers you can get to Orlando.

*Stepping off soapbox*

So Joe, please, please come to Orlando! We need you!
